And there goes 2021!

MzDazy got to ride another ferry on the way out of Galveston. Next stop< the Bolivar Peninsula.

On the west end of the Bolivar Peninsula the beaches are not crowded at all. We had a pretty good section to ourselves after the first day or so. Martha was in heaven discovering all kinds of sea shells. As a side note, leveling on the beach is super easy, just dig hole for the high side tires!

Another beautiful sunset

This gives all new meaning to “dune buggy”!

This cool cabin in the woods was our next stop in Warren Texas. My old boss Brad and his wife Syd live here now.

It has been a long time since we all lived in Big Bear, California. Brad and Syd are great hosts and friends, we had a great time getting shown their corner of the country. Their dog George enjoyed having Ruckus to play with so much that after we left he got a new little brother!

MzDazy got her tree up and a fire to keep warm one night when a cold front blew through.

After a side trip to Alexandria, Louisiana to pick up some Bluebird specific parts I wanted from Ross Buss, we went to Lafayette, Louisiana and spent the night at Vermillionville Arcadian Village. They had a preserved example of life in this area during the early 1800s.

A note about Ross Bus. The people there went out of there way to find the parts that I wanted that were old enough that they were not in the parts listing anymore. Some of the guys that worked in the shop came out and gave MzDazy a look over and showered us in compliments for her condition and the conversion work we had done. Some of them were doing conversions of their own and are stealing some of our “wow that is an easy solution” items. They even offered to let me pull into a bay if I wanted to get out of the weather to install what I had bought.

Over the Mississippi River we go! That is the LSU Tiger Stadium in the background.

Well this is a bucket list town!

While we were in New Orleans we stayed at the Faubourg Brewery. As you can see they have a beautiful facility with its own park that lit up each night. Being Christmas, we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.

Martha has a friend in every city! In New Orleans it is the wonderful Andrea and her husband Scott. Not only did they lend us their car for our stay, but acted as tour guides as well. We had an amazing dinner at this restaurant that you would not have even known existed if not for them.

No trip to New Orleans would be complete without a Beignet’s and Cafe au Late from Cafe du Monde.

Bourbon Street during the day is a pretty quiet place to take a walk. On a future visit we will come down at night and see the zoo!

Christmas Eve at the brewery. It was nice to sit out in the sun with a beer.

Mz Dazy all lit up and ready for Santa. She even put on the STOP lights to make sure he found us!

Santa brought us Lectric Bikes for Christmas!! Now we can venture a little further from MzDazy than we like to walk.

Andrea and Scott invited us to Christmas Dinner at Scott’s parents house so Martha put on her Christmas best! We had great company and fabulous food.

The day after Christmas we were back on the road, or rather the causeway. 25 miles long crossing the middle of Lake Pontchartrain to get to Fontainbleau State Park for a few days.

That is one big lake!

Now we are in the part of the country that Ruckus does not get to dive into every bit of water he sees. This little guy was just enjoying the sun.

All the old oak trees covered in Spanish moss are really neat to see. This park is a former sugar cane plantation.

Ruckus is becoming quite the ham!

Our next stop in Waveland Mississippi was the former hideout of the pirate Jeanne Lafette. I just can’t stop singing “M-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-humpback-humpback-I”.

This beautiful little house is right across the road from the gulf and a white sand beach. Perfect!

A little relaxing in the shade. If you have never been to the “Deep South”, the humidity is incredible. 75 degrees in the sun is like sitting in a sauna. I just can’t fathom summer down here!

After getting settled into our next campground at Davis Bayou in Ocean Springs, MS, it was off to run errands.

After a nice evening on New Years Eve with our camp neighbors Paul and Sallie from South Carolina, we slept right through all the fireworks. In the morning this guy came to drink coffee with us.

Hello 2022!

New Years Day would not be complete without a bowl of Black eyed Peas and Greens. May the new year bring good luck to everyone!
