Skoolie Swarm 2022!

Take a large camp in Central Florida and add 200+ Skoolies and other nomadic people and you get a Skokie Swarm! This was the 5th year that Travis and Michelle Mattson have put on this event. They do a great job of planning activities and letting the event flow towards fun. The group of people that attended were great. We had a great time meeting people and hearing about their nomadic lives. There were lots of busses to look at and everyone was more than happy to show you their homes.

MzDazy scored this spot down next to the lake. We could hide out on the lake side when we wanted a little quiet or sit on the other side and be right in the mix.

We had plenty of room. It did fill in more as the week went on, but that just gave us new people to meet.

One night there as a bonfire to be enjoyed along with people making dutch oven deserts. That fire went through at least two cords of wood.

This caught Martha’s eye. She loved the skull with the desert feel to it.

Purple is Martha’s favorite color and this just screamed I’m a wild one!

Everyone has painted this one while drinking wine usually. hahaha

This guy had to stop twice on his way from Alabama to remove the transmission to replace a seal on the side of the road. Pretty impressive roadside endeavor. The Covered Wagon was cool to see.

There was a costume dance one night. I was impressed with how many people had costumes with them.

This circle of swings was right near us. We had a good time and had some nice conversations around that fire.

The drumming is cool for a bit, but after a while………….

This was one of Michaels very favorite motorhomes. It is a Flexible. Never got to tour it though. Would have loved to.

Martha thought this one just looked like fun! Weeeeeeeeeee!

Ruckus spent a lot of time staring at that lake. We finally saw a spot to let him retrieve his decoy and didn’t get covered in mud. It did cool him down.

One of the events they had was called the “Beer Mile”. The idea is that you drink a beer, run a 1/4 mile lap, drink another beer and repeat until you have gone a mile. Ruckus and I took the slow and steady approach. While we did not win the race, we did keep our beer down!

There were musical performances as well as Karaoke. This woman singing was French and it was entertaining to listen to her sing in French

MzDazy got some new signage so that the people stuck behind us on the road can at least read these posts to know why we are so slow! I guess I will have to up my game and make more posts to keep them entertained.

After being assured that the lake was gator free, Ruckus finally got to play for a while!

This Woodie was done very well inside and out. This one is Michael’s favorite. The owner came by to check out the heater in MzDazy as a possible solution to his heat problem in his rig.

After an absolutely fabulous week with our nomadic brethren, it was time to get back on the road. Historic A1A to be exact! Hello Atlantic Ocean!
