Winter came to the panhandle February 3, 2022 Michael Haisten As the sun set over Mobile Bay, we started looking east to Florida for some more warm weather. As you can see by Martha’s pants, we were met with less than ideal temperatures when we got to Big Lagoon State Park. Our next stop at Indian Pass near Port St. Joe had every weather except warm enough to swim! The wind blew a lot. It was great to be at a dog friendly beach again. He has been pretty sad since we left the dog freedom of Texas. People painted scenes on Palm stalks and attached them to some old pier pilings. The shell pickings were great the day after a big storm blew through. Clear and cold with this great full moon. The Indian Pass Raw Bar served up some mighty tasty food! While I enjoyed some Oysters, Martha has some delicious stuffed shrimp. We decided to top it off with a pound of some of the best steamed shrimp I have ever had. Top it off with self service draft beer and I was in heaven. Our next stop was at Otter Springs RV Park to ride out another cold snap. That fire ring wheel got a pretty good workout. We spent the cooler days hiking around the woods. Ruckus did not understand why we did not want him swimming in the green water full of bumpy logs. I tried to explain that not all logs are logs and he may meet an Alligator, but he really wanted to get in. Way down South on the Suwannee River. During a visit to Blue Springs State Park we got to see lots of Manatees huddled together to beat the cold weather. Somebody is watching for some dinner! This 5 foot alligator was just hanging out. We had a great time touring Blue Springs with Martha’s nephew Kevin, but we really want to wear shorts!!
