Vegas, baby!…and a baby

After a beautiful spot by Zion park with all the peace and quiet, we decided to head into Las Vegas for a few days. Martha needed some new sneakers and her favorite Sketchers store is on the Strip. And new M&M shoelaces to go in them!

Circus Circus has an RV park right next to the hotel on the strip. The amenities were on the poor side, but location, location, location!

Ruckus got to strut the Strip a few times. The first day we walked to the M&M store at the other end of the Strip to get shoelaces for the new sneakers. 8.5 miles round trip. Ruckus got a ton of attention as it seems every young mid-western girl in Vegas misses their dog back home.

We even made it to Rome. Well sort of, MzDazy can’t swim so we just stopped by Ceasers Palace.

We needed to get some laundry done, so we popped it in the machine and waited by the pool for it to be done. I must say this has been my favorite Laundromat.

On Monday we were going to head up Hwy 95 to camp for a few days before heading to Big Pine to see Mike, Emma, and Indy, but the wind decided to blow 70 gusting to 100 out that way. We decided another day in Vegas watching the dust storm would be better. MzDazy blown on her side was not what we wanted to see.

Meet Indiana Wyatt Haisten, or Indy for short. He came along last year, but with COVID and our impending trip, we did not get to meet him until now.

Mike and Emma took us to a small farm and orchard near Big Pine and we had a good time picking our own treats.

This happy camper had a basket load of Asian Pears, her favorite!

Indy supervised while Mike and I, mostly Mike, secured the solar panel wiring on the roof of MzDazy better so that it would stop slapping the roof while we drive in high winds.

Ruckus got to go swimming with Mike’s dog Moose. Moose is getting up in the years, but put on a clinic for the whipper snapper when it came time to retrieve decoys!

We went for a short hike in the Ancient Bristlecone Forest. It is about 9500 feet of elevation and spending the last decade at sea level did me no favors! The trees were living, but almost petrified. Some of these living trees are over 4000 years old!

Indy had the right idea and hitched a ride with Mom. I just don’t think I would fit in there.

Grandma and Indy got along from minute one. They had a great time for the entire visit. Every time I looked they were making googly eyes at each other.

Like most kids, Indy kept his distance from me most of the time. By Tuesday morning Mike had gone to work, so if he wanted to hang out with a dude, I was his only choice. We had a good time playing with all his toys until it was time for him to go to daycare and us to hit the road.

Back on the road………..
